my tire is flat and i have an old one laying in the barn how do i put it on rim and all?How do i change a tire? While it can be done, it will require a lot of muscle. Considering the amount of work to do it yourself versus the cost of going to a local garage and having them remove the old tire from the rim and mounting the new tire, I'd say spend the extra few dollars to have the garage do it for you. This way, you can have them balance the tire for you at the same time ( which will have to be done anyway and that is not something you can do yourself ).
As a side note, how old is this tire you want to put on? Keep in mind that the rubber compounds do harden with age which deteriorates the ride quality and safety margin. Even if that old tire has lots of tread left, it may no longer be a good tire. How do i change a tire?Is it for a bike or a car? If it's for a car you'll need a special equipment. How do i change a tire?take it to a shop or you may find its more work than you think to do it manuallyHow do i change a tire?first you loosen up your lug nuts on the tire, then you jack up your vehicle by its main frame or by the axle, the take off the lug nuts. Then put your new tire on by putting on the lug nut on in a star formation. then let the jack down ,then tighten the lug nut down in a star shape. How do i change a tire?first loosen the lug nuts while the car is on the ground, then jack the car up in a safe spot on the bottom of the car, next take the lug nuts the rest of the way off,now take the tire off the car and put the other one on and tighten the lug nuts down fingertight, let the car down back on to the ground and tighten them like the manual says.
If their hard to loosen might use your foot if your using a lug wrench
