Can I change tires on my truck?

I have a 1995 Nissan Pickup, and the tires that are on it right now are 195/75R14. I want to purchase some better looking rims for it, and I've got my eye on a specific set, but they require 205/40HR17 tires. Will I be able to even fit those tires on my truck, and if they do, how much of an impact can I expect on clearance and gas mileage? And would it be a good idea to get the speedometer re-calibrated?Can I change tires on my truck?go with 205\50R17 and you won't have to do anythingCan I change tires on my truck?go to the %26quot;tirerack.com%26quot; site........they have pictures, charts, and all kinds of cool stuff...........you'll get lost for hours. Can I change tires on my truck?I have some news you're not going to believe. A 205/40/17 tire has a much *smaller circumference than a 195/75/14. Want proof? Go to tirerack.com and look up any tire of these two sizes then click on the spec. page. Follow over the column under RPM ( Revolutions Per Mile) You will see that the seemingly larger 17 inch tire actually rolls 875 revolutions per mile. The smaller diameter 14 inch tire rolls 813 revolutions per mile.

Fish around on this site and pick a larger 17 inch tire or one with a larger aspect ratio to wind up with somewhere around 813 revolutions per mile. then your speedometer will not need re-calibration.
