Loosen lugs slightly while car is on ground.
Put in park or in reverse if a standard and set the parking brake.
chock other wheels.
Jack up car.
remove lugs and wheel.
Put on spare.
Tighten lugs
Lower car until tire touches ground but jack still supports the car.
Re-tighten the lugs.

May sound picayunne,but I've seen people twist off %26quot;looks like%26quot;
lug nuts %26amp; spinners from after market wheel covers by virtue
of ignorance.
Also,some more expensive wheel covers require a special tool
to unlock the cover.Should be able to find this small wrench in
the spare tire compartment.
If the wheel cover will not %26quot;pop%26quot; off by prying on it,chances are
that it's locked down.That lock would be beneath the center hub
trim or on the valve stem.
Finally, for safety sake,block the wheels on the opposite side of
the vehicle you're jacking up %26amp; keep arms %26amp; legs out from under
the car!!!
