I have a Toyota and has been keeping the oil every 3000 miles. I clean the car, wash and wax the car. I change tires and keep them well balanced. But I do not know anything else how I can maintain my car on my own at home (I do not know anything about the cars)??How can I learn to keep my car healthy and running for years?If it's an older car or one with high millage i use additives, like sea foam for the fuel system once every oil change.I use additives in my oil change like Lucas oil. Do tune ups. Only use premium/ultra gas. Don't get cheap oil changes from gas stations, buy your own oil (such as mobile synthetic 1) and oil filters and go to a shop and have them change it for you. Always warm up your car on a cold day until the meter is 1/3 to Hot or halfway. Change brake pads often. Do car washes often also, especially in the winter so parts don't rust on your car. I know my truck is a rust bucket. change your oil even sooner too.Put a cover over your car to keep it out of the weather. keep your car out of the sun and rain. keep it in a garage even.
